WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?
ANY CITY OR TOWN OR LOCAL AUTHORITY is welcome to participate in the European Mobility Week. You are. Every European town can take part in the European Mobility Week campaign as long as it undertakes to comply with a charter drawn up in consultation with the various national European partners of the project, or, where appropriate, a charter that has been adapted to the national constraints of a country that wishes to reinforce the measures to be implemented.
Apart from marking out a restricted area, complying with the date of the 22nd September and increased availability of alternative modes of transport, the participating towns put in place the means needed to inform the inhabitants of the practical details of the operation and to encourage them to give up the use of their car on that day.
Obviously, the terms of reference - whether European or national - allow each town to adapt the operation to its own layout and local constraints by introducing practical measures (new bus timetables, creation of cycle lanes, making cleaner vehicles available, etc.).
Finally, measurements of traffic, air quality, noise, impact on public opinion, etc. should allow the impact of the day to be quantified in each partner town so that a national and European assessment of the campaign can be drawn up.
