A start-up for this year’s Mobility Week, the City of Luxembourg will hold on September 16 a press briefing, with the following features, all specified in a press dossier :
- official inauguration of a new bike-route (n° 13) whose itinerary links the areas Belair-Hollerich-Gare,
- presentation of the bus on demand concept – "Call-a-bus" and the relevant new logo applied to buses,
- presentation of the 2009/2010 edition of the "map of bicycle itineraries",
- and presentation of the different bicycle tours scheduled during this year’s European Mobility Week
Throughout the week an accompanied bicycle tour will be organized every day, though each time with a different focus and theme:
17 September – "Bike Promenade" – a leisurely ride through the city parks
18 September – "Bike Promenade" – "Vieille Ville/Old Town – Gare/Railway Station"
19 September – "Bike Promenade" – "Discovery of the infrastructures" – an accompanied discovery of and introduction to the bike network infrastructures
20 September – "PC1 City tour" – a sporty cycling tour covering PC1
21 September – "Bike Promenade – Kirchberg"
22 September – "Bike Promenade – Alzette"
The relevant details of these different bike tours will be explicitly announced in a leaflet, to be published on September 9 and intended for city-wide/all-mail-box distribution. The subscriptions to the tours will be announced at the official presentation of the "Bike Promenade" card, conceived in conjunction with the LCTO – Luxembourg City Tourist Office.
On 22 September, a press conference is scheduled, in order to present:
- a report and assessment of the accompanied bike tours
- he findings of a public survey conducted by TNS-ILReS in order to measure and determine the satisfaction of the public users of the new city-bus network
- the launch of the subsequent publicity campaign, with its official take-off on 25 September.
