Detailed description (English): IMS with the Walk-Run-Bike initiative (https://www.facebook.com/Walk-Run-Bike-573946372707005/ ) and in the framework of the European Mobility Week, is launching the first Bike-Bus in the country as part of its work on Mobility on the Plateau du Kirchberg, the city's financial district.
The Bike-Bus will be made up of employees working in Kirchberg, who, having been trained and introduced to riding in a bus-like formation by Luxembourg Triathlete Liz May (partner in the Walk-Run-Bike project by Krys Sarl) will bike together between the Gare de Luxembourg and their workplace.
Under the supervision of the 'driver', the 'bike-bussers' will take up the space of a literal bus, thus forcing car-drivers to be much more careful to their presence on the road. This ecological, sporty and social mean of commuting to work offers an enriching alternative to the individual ride through traffic jams and parking shortages, improving employee well being and productivity as well as providing a much more environmentally friendly journey!
Groups of approximatively 10 bikers will ride this commute on several days, and raise awareness within their organisations; simultaneously, an important publicity campaign will inform the public and authorities about the initiative and its aims.
The objectives of this awareness raising campaign are threefold:
- Promote soft and multimodal mobility, by encouraging people to bike from the train station to their workplace
- Promote safety and co-usage of the road between bikers and drivers
- Advocate for better and safer biking infrastructure that would encourage employees to cycle in the city and through their workplace
Target group(s): Professionals and civil servants commuting to the Plateau du Kirchberg
