Detailed description (English): How people move has a great impact on climate change.
If we compare the way children in other countries get to school to the way German children get to school, we see that there are a lot of differences. In Germany parents drive their children very often by car to school. Although there are a lot of other options, e.g. buses, trains or going by bike or by foot, Germans often take the most comfortable option: going by car. Therefore, in Germany there's a lot of traffic in the morning and in the afternoon and this contributes to an extreme air pollution. Everybody knows that we should cut down our CO2- emissions in order to stop climate change.
In the context of the Parking Day in Saarbrücken on September 20th, we want to show how much space parking lots take away from people and what we could do with that space, if there wouldn't park cars. Therefore, many organisations in Saarbrücken are going to block some parking spaces on September 20th and build booths there. We are going to take part in this action by blocking a parking space with our booth. The topic of our booth will be "Climate impact of mobility in Tororo and Saarbrücken".
We will compare the way children in Tororo (Uganda) get to school to the way children in Saarbrücken get to school. We will show how they differ and which way is the best for our climate. We want to demonstrate the influence of our mobility habits on climate change and the importance of our choice concerning our daily means of transport.
