Detailed description (English): Earlier this year, we launched a new initiative to encourage visitors, staff, tenants and students to make more earth-friendly mobility choices when they have to travel to the Institute, or anywhere else for that matter. Our [RE]ROOT campaign encourages travellers to either make use of their legs, bicycles, public transport or ride sharing, through a platform such as UGoMyWay.
If they are unable to do any of these, we encourage them to invest back into home soil by purchasing vouchers ranging from R10 to R300 which is used to purchase seeds, seedlings and trees for our food garden.
Target group(s): Staff, students, tenants and visitors travelling to the Sustainability Institute
Objectives: - To decrease the number of cars coming to the Institute
- To encourage ride sharing and the use of public transport
- To make people conscious about their mobility choices and carbon footprint
Expected Outcomes: - Decreased number of cars at the Institute
- More people travelling together
