Detailed description (English): Organised since 2002, EUROPEAN MOBILITY WEEK aims to improve public health and the quality of life through promoting clean mobility and sustainable urban transport. The theme of the 2018 campaign is ‘multimodality’ - the mixing of transport modes within the same journey or for different trips. The EUROPEAN MOBILITY WEEK campaign is an opportunity to present sustainable mobility alternatives and to explain the challenges that cities and towns are facing. It offers also a chance to showcase the benefits of cleaner transport choices and make progress towards better mobility in Europe. Furthermore, it provides also a good possibility for local stakeholders to get together and discuss the different aspects of mobility and air quality, find innovative solutions to reduce car-use and transport emissions, and test new technologies and planning measures. The Metropolitan Area of Lisbon, considering its authority as a transport authority, can not fail to be associated with this important moment in promoting more sustainable modes of mobility. That'why AML has organized two distinct moments: The 1st moment is called "Pass to Pass". On September 19th , the participants requesting the Lisboa Viva card and later purchasing a monthly pass, receive a second monthly pass - free of charge.
Target: new users of the public transport system of the Metropolitan Area of Lisbon, including those who have never used a pass or who have used it but have not used it for more than 12 months.
The 2nd moment concerns the Bicycle Tours:
To mark the beginning and the end of the EUROPEAN MOBILITY WEEK 2018, several bicycle rides take place in all the AML municipalities: On September 16th - on the north bank (Amadora, Cascais, Lisbon, Loures, Mafra, Odivelas, Oeiras, Sintra and Vila Franca de Xira); and on September 22nd on the south bank (Alcochete, Almada, Barreiro, Moita, Montijo, Palmela, Seixal, Sesimbra and Setúbal). AML believes that cycling is gaining in importance in the Metropolitan and European society. In economic and social terms, it influences or impacts upon transport, mobility, environment and climate change, the economy and tourism.
Target group(s): New users of the public transport system of the Metropolitan Area of Lisbon, including those who have never used a pass or who have used it but have not used it for more than 12 months.
