Detailed description (English): Ljubljana Cycling Network organises a cycling critical mass event on Car-Free Day (22 September 2017). The aim of the event is to gather people who want to live in a city that is designed for people, not for cars. People, who want to live in a city without exhaust fumes and noise, full of greenery, where cyclists and pedestrians can coexist without conflicts, where walking and cycling are the first choice of mobility.
The planned route of the event is on the inner ring road where there is a number of places where there is no cycling infrastructure or where cycling is even forbidden. Another aim is to get the support for the area wide 30 km/h speed limit within the inner ring road area which would greatly enhance safety and quality of life.
Target group(s): Cyclists, drivers, municipality, other NGOs.
Objectives: To gather as many people as possible.
To repeat the successful event from a few years ago.
To attract media attention.
To let the municipality know that we want better conditions for cycling in the city.
Expected Outcomes: Reduce speed limits to 30 km/h.
