Detailed description (English): Following Ciclaveiro's suggestion and with our collaboration, during EUROPEAN MOBILITY WEEK, Diario de Aveiro will publish a daily page dedicated to sustainable mobility with special focus on cycling:
The first day, the 16th, will be about the EUROPEAN MOBILITY WEEK campaign itself. With a space about the goals of the campaign, this year's theme, number of European and Portuguese cities participating and reference to the ones in Aveiro region. Another space will be about last year's EUROPEAN MOBILITY WEEK Award finalists and the initiatives they carried out.
The 17th will be about cycling as a mode of transportation. With a space with reasons to use the bicycle and to promote its use and to invest in better conditions; a space with photos of daily use; and an opinion column by Ciclaveiro about cycling as a special theme in sustainable urban mobility.
The 18th will be about cycling and local business. With a space with a couple of case studies from ECF; a space with past and present Ciclaveiro's initiatives involving local business; and an opinion column by Ciclaveiro about the advantages of active forms of mobility for local trade.
The 19th will be about schools. With a space with examples of programmes and actions that promote active mobility by the school community; a space with photos of cycling and walking to the school; and an opinion column by a school in Aveiro region with a high numbers of students cycling regularly to school about their experience.
The 20th will be about companies. With a space written by Altice Labs, an international company based in Aveiro, that has for some years promoted sustainable mobility among employees, specially giving free bicycles and encouraging and creating conditions to cycle to work; a space written by a Portuguese bicycle manufacturer company, based in Aveiro region, about the advantages for the Portuguese bicycle industry of a higher use the bicycle as a mode of transport in Portugal; and an opinion column by Ciclaveiro about the advantages for companies that their employees adopt sustainable and active mobility habits.
The 21st will be in kind of conclusion about Ciclaveiro and its initiatives for EUROPEAN MOBILITY WEEK. With a space about the activities Ciclaveiro proposed to the municipality for EUROPEAN MOBILITY WEEK 2016 and the activities in the context of EUROPEAN MOBILITY WEEK 2015 we accomplished and their success in terms of mobilising participants and communication; and a space with examples of good practices in active and sustainable mobility developed in cities somehow similar to Aveiro.
On the 22nd, the content will be written by the newspaper staff about past editions of the Car-Free Day in Aveiro with photos and citizens' testimonies.
Target group(s): The 5000 daily readers of Diario de Aveiro paper edition, plus the online readers and the publication by Ciclaveiro in its social media.
Objectives: To spread within a population that usually doesn't have contact with mobility issues, the advantages and benefits of sustainable mobility, and specially cycling as a mode of transport in different economic and society contexts, and raise awareness of the importance of theme.
Expected Outcomes: A relatively large number people will have contact with different questions related to sustainable mobility and will become more aware of the individual, social and economical advantages of daily cycling.
