Detailed description (English): In March 2017, a Mobility Pilot program was started where the bicycle would be the main element.
In a bet taken from the beginning by the Municipality of Albergaria-a-Velha, in a region that is located near three of the most important motorways of the country, it demanded that solutions be worked out that would not inhibit future bicycle users from using it regularly.
Aiming at a slower process but more likely to succeed we opted for a method that comprises three steps, USE, FORMATION and PREVENTION.
By understanding our environment well, we work to engage the entire community.
MOB.A involves free bicycles for all ages- BTT, Balance bikes, Electric CargoBikes to support the new municipal market, technical and educational training for future users of this product, all for free and supported by the municipality.
The POP (Pedar Operational Program) dedicated to schools, is the first step to include cycling in the pedagogical and curriculum program in basic education.
By creating a dynamic circuit we increase the skills of using all motor skills and not just the use of the bike, we take a step so that the child before knowing the rules of traffic can use the bike without fears.
Improving school life by including popular floor-painted games are also part of POP, and increasing the use of motor skills, also creates empathy for floor-painted signage, which in the future may be important to understand, prevent and apply the respective rules.
In 2019, the PréPOP was born, a program aimed at preschool education with the placement of Balance Bikes in all the rooms (schools) of the municipality, following an ambitious and very original program.
Last but not least with (PATRULHEIROS) PATROL- a free application that can be used by everyone across the country. This App allows you to report environmental problemsi in a very simply way.
Target group(s): All ages.
Objectives: Unite the community through the bicycle.
Expected Outcomes: A more environmentally friendly community, of which the bike is part.
Partner: Câmara Municipal de Albergaria-a-Velha.
