Detailed description (English): During this two-day workshop, representatives from participating municipalities discuss and learn in various sessions how sustainable mobility enhances the quality of life in urban areas, connects rural areas, provides opportunities for businesses and citizens and can ultimately foster local climate action. Topic discussed during the workshop sessions include latest trends in integrated urban planning, user-based mobility systems, the potential of e-mobility and the development of strategies to enhance and promote cycling. The participants learn about good practices and low hanging fruit by going on a field trip in and around the European Green Capital – Essen 2017 which provides some innovative examples of smart and sustainable mobility actions.
The workshop is organised within the project 'Polish-German Cooperation on Low-Emission Economy in Cities'.
Detailed description (original language): In verschiedenen Workshops nähern sich die Teilnehmerstädte des Projekts und weitere interessierte Kommunen den Themen integrierte städtische Mobilitätsplanung, nutzerbasierte Mobilität, e-Mobilität sowie Konzeption und Ausbau der Radmobilität. Die Teilnehmerinnen und Teilnehmer werden außerdem während einer Exkursion in und um Essen, Grüne Hauptstadt Europas 2017, nachahmenswerte Beispiele im Bereich nachhaltige Mobilität kennenlernen, denn Essen bietet einige innovative modellhafte Vorhaben und Maßnahmen zu smarter und nachhaltiger Mobilität.
Der Workshop findet im Rahmen des Projekts "Polnisch-Deutsche Kooperation im Klimaschutz und zur Luftreinhaltung in Städten" statt.
Target group(s): German and Polish municipalities
Objectives: The objective of the workshop is to create a forum to discuss and learn about the numerous positive synergies that can be achieved by municipalities that invest and become engaged in fostering sustainable mobility. What's more, the aim is to raise awareness about upcoming mobility trends and existing strategies to enhance the development of sustainable mobility measures.
Expected Outcomes: Around 30 participants are expected to come to Essen.
The workshop sessions are tailored to the specific needs of the participating municipalities of the project, large cities and smaller towns, aiming at providing inspiration and knowledge-sharing for the development and implementation of own mobility measures.
