Detailed description (English): As transport represents almost a quarter of Europe’s emissions, the need to decarbonise the sector is becoming urgent to reverse climate change. However, the decarbonisation of transport will only be achieved by engaging with the energy sector to ensure an effective energy transition: the development of electric mobility or other electricity-based alternative fuels will only make sense if it goes hand in hand with the development of renewable electricity.
The good think is, mobility and solar have a long way to ride together. From solar-powered vehicles to solar-powered charging stations, to innovative solar-powered supply offer, many exciting business models are under development or are already existing and will shape the future of tomorrow’s transportation.
SolarPower Europe will bring together key industry players and European policy makers to exchange on the many potentials of a solar-powered mobility and reflect on the coming challenges its deployment.
Target group(s): - European policy-makers
- Automotive industry
- Energy and photovoltaic industry
- Innovative companies in the field of solar and/or mobility
- Research institute or organisations
Objectives: - Bring the innovative industry together to identify the potential of solar and the future of mobility, the existing and promising business models, and the upcoming challenges to overcome.
- Enable European policy-makers to reflect on the potential of solar and mobility and bridge the world of energy and transport policy.
Expected Outcomes: The event will kick-start the work of the new SolarPower Europe Solar&Mobility Task Force dedicated to solar and mobility. The Task Force will bring together automotive industry and photovoltaic industry to work on the potential of solar and mobility, map out its innovative actors and reflect on the way to overcome the emerging challenges to a solar-powered mobility.
