Cities invited to apply for European Mobility Week Award 2012

All towns and cities that have signed the Mobility Week Charter, fulfill the three participation criteria and have registered their activities online, are invited to submit an application for the European Mobility Week 2012 Award. The application form and more detailed information on the application procedure and eligibility criteria can be found on the Award-section of www.mobilityweek.eu.

Once completed, the application must be e-mailed to peter.staelens@eurocities.eu before 1 November 2012, together with a digital copy of the signed charter and a map of the area that was closed for motorised traffic. Supporting materials can be sent by normal post and should arrive at the official address of the European coordination - EUROCITIES, Square De Meeûs 1, 1000 Brussels, Belgium - before 15 November 2012.

All applications will be checked for eligibility and evaluated by a jury of independent experts, including high level representatives from DG Environment and DG Move. The finalists will be celebrated at a prestigious ceremony in Brussels in March 2013, the winning local authority will be awarded with a free promotional video to highlight its achievements as a champion of sustainable urban transport in Europe. Together with the other finalists and shortlisted cities, the winning city will also be actively promoted as best practice in sustainable urban transport campaigning via the various EMW communication channels, events and publications.
