For the same journey, it is often possible to choose between several means of transport, particularly in towns where public transport is widely available: sometimes it is sufficient to change a few habits to rediscover a very considerable comfortable life. By analysing your journeys and with a few small simple calculations, you will discover that you can save on tiredness, time and money.
Think also about multi-mode journeys by combining different means of transport: for example, car, bus, tram, bicycle and walking!
Public transport is efficient
By using public transport, everybody wins! In town, buses, trams and metros generally take up the entire urban area. Let us remember that one out of two cars travels less than three kilometres: the same journey by bus is cheaper. You are causing less pollution, you are saving your money, your vehicle, energy, but also time and stress!
Moreover, nowadays towns are making great efforts to modernise their fleets of public transport. Some means are improved or readapted for town, thus, buses that use new fuels; trams that often travel in their own lane, which makes them particularly fast; trolley buses which operate by electricity. Other techniques such as light automatic vehicles (LAV), similar to small metros but without drivers, are more costly but offer greater flexibility of use.
